Unfortunately, I don't have time (or inclination, I suppose) to learn the prerequisite skills to take an existing theme and modify it to work with the various modifications that I'd like the forum to have.

This *may* change in the very near future. SMF is moving to a different process for themes. When that is done, themes will be significantly easier to work with. It depends on when their RC3 goes to official release and then a short time for folks to develop themes for the new system.

At that point, it'll be even better - 'cause I'll easily be able to set it up so that you can select from multiple themes and have all the same feature set.

Until then, this was the better of the bunch. I really, really prefer a darker theme - 'cause all this light makes my eyeballs hurt after a while.

Yep, I got an email telling me this. Seems to work.
